Can anyone help me locate some good fun places to eat. I am a foodie, and like good food, but I am also looking for a place that would have a good feel to it too. I am 31, so I ma lloking for a place where others my age would eat, but that has good upscale food. Thanks.

If you want canned tomato sauce and canned vegetables go to greektown.

If you would like decent food and can get across the river go to Windsor. There are great chinese, vietnamese, and italian restaurants. Go to Little Italy on Erie Street. I like Nico but there are at least 5 great restaurants there. You can go to the coffee shops there.

There are some great clubs in Windsor with lots of younger people if you want to try your hand at picking up drunk 20 year olds.

Looking from Windsor, Detroit looks like a real city.

If staying in Detroit and you want a good feel, go to Roma Cafe - smoking side. Or the restaurants at the Casinos.

Good luck.

Fishbones is the name of the place the other answerer could not remember. It is just okay.

1. CURRENTS

Taking your age and location into consideration, I will recommend a brand-spanking new place called Currents which is on the water just east of the Ren Cen (where you are staying) The hotel should know about it. Irish pub with live entertainment (jazz, irish, and cover...sometimes DJ) on the weekends. The food is upscale. Try the curried pork appetizer, or the scotch egg warm or cold. If you see an older bald guy behind the bar, that's Bob the owner. Tell him Rabbit sent you!

2. MAJESTIC

If you want veggie - go to the Majestic, it's straight north on Woodward. I'm not vegetarian, but the food is great! So are the martinis!

3. NEMO'S

If you want the best burger in town and a chance to run into a retired sports pro - go to Nemo's on Michigan Ave by the old Tiger's Stadium. Free parking too!

4. SMALL PLATES

There is a nice place called Small Plates - self explanitory - ask the hotel, they know it.

Skip Greektown unless you have a sweet tooth, there is a good pastry shop. Mexicantown is good but can be tricky to find.

5. TOM'S OYSTER BAR

A lot of people go to Tom's Oyster Bar across from the Ren Cen. It's hit or miss for the crowd.

6. TWINGO'S

Crap, there is one more place by Wayne State University...Help me out here someone! It's a small French restaurant. I'll get back to you! It's a good one though! Okay, I'm back! It's Twingo's. 4710 Cass. I forgot about it, I might have to go there...

OH PLEASE LISTEN TO ME! WOW, never been so excited about a question. FIND GREEKTOWN and locate Pegasus, they have the best greek food in town. Its loud and fun and crowded and worth every second you will be there. I recommend the stuffed grape leaves with lemon sauce...dang I want to go home ...I am from Detroit but now live in Atlanta.

Ok, next, find Mexican Town, not to far from where your at. Find Xoci's ...I will just say it phonetically...soshi-mikos...best margaritas in town and thefood is exceelent.

Now if your looking for steaks.....theere is a place called 1260 or some other "number"...I haven't lived there for a long time....right next to Joe Louis....

Please ask the hotel what they recommend. Detroit has such a bad rap....but they have some magnificent food and tourist places.

I am racking my brain right now.....LOL....OH I KNOW, if you want some fantastic Alligator Bites and Lynchburg Lemonade, right down from Pegasus is a place right on the corner....I cannot remember the name but its on the corner of Monroe and Boubian...(I spelled that wrong) and you will be right there...I want to say Cadillac jacks but thats not it....thier sign will have a big ole Lynchburg Lemonade on it...it is really good too. It might be called fishbones!!!

I hope this helps!!! There is so much more to tell you, but once your there, just ask around! And Slick is soooooooooooo wrong.

The Ren Cen has a new restaurant called the Coach Insignia, and it just opened this year. A couple months later it was heralded as the best new restaurant (sorry, don't remember source) in the U.S., a title not usually given to Detroit. Haven't checked it out myself yet, but it's first on my list when I get back there. Another good one, voted one of the best restaurants in Detroit by Hour magazine is the Rattlesnake Club, also on the river. They have really great, innovative menu of fusion cuisine. Welcome to Detroit, and Bon Appetit!

Try the Loco Bar & Grill if you like Mexican. It's at the corner of Lafayette and Beaubien. It's in Greektown which is just a few blocks from the RenCen. There are a lot of great greek places in the area too.

And tha Greektown Casino!!
